| | Happy Super Tuesday, ~~first_name~~!
It’s Primary Election Day 2024! If you haven’t already voted, make your voice heard, and vote today!
I’m excited to announce that Molly Duane, lead attorney with the Center for Reproductive Rights, will be the keynote speaker of our annual "Making Democracy Work® Dinner" on Friday, April 19th, in Dallas, Texas. Molly Duane is currently litigating several cases in Texas on behalf of women denied abortions during severe obstetrical complications. These lawsuits seek to clarify the scope of the state’s medical exception to its abortion bans. Our honorees are the Center for Reproductive Rights and the Texas Library Association. The funds raised from this year's dinner will be used to support our mission throughout the upcoming year. Click here to purchase tickets!
March is Women's History Month, and I hope that everyone will celebrate and reflect on women's contributions to American history and culture. The League of Women Voters of Texas is proud to be a part of this important history. For over 100 years, the League has been a champion of women's rights and has worked tirelessly to promote civic engagement and democracy. We have fought for voting rights, equal pay, reproductive rights, environmental justice, and many other issues that affect women and their families. For information and resources about the fight for women's right to vote, click here, and for the history of LWVTX and LWVUS, click here.
LWV Texas extends its heartfelt wishes to our LWV Amarillo members and the communities in the Panhandle affected by the wildfires.
Remember, as American political scientist Larry Sabato said, “Every election is determined by the people who show up.”

LWVUS Annual League Survey Results
As a nonprofit organization, it's critical that we effectively demonstrate our social impact. By measuring how we empower voters and defend democracy, we can inform members, donors, and the community about the actions we take and how we make a difference. Our focus has been, as a League, what do we do? How do we do it? Who do we do it with? In 2023, LWV Texas and our local Leagues used our resources to great effect, excelling in all categories. Find the results here.

County Election Websites Review
Voters across Texas rely on their counties to provide useful, accurate, and up-to-date information about how, when, and where to vote. Under the direction of Sandy Swan, the League’s team of volunteers has completed its review of all 254 county election websites in Texas! This review is important to ensure voters have ready access to the information they need to vote. Based on a set of criteria, we award points based on the information provided on each county’s website.
We are in the process of analyzing the data from the review to finalize the report for the counties. Once the report is finished, you will be able to find it on our website here. Special thanks to the following volunteers who worked tirelessly to complete the reviews: Jackie Alfred, Grace Chimene, Mark Coomes, Carla Higgins, Joyce LeBombard, Dorothy Marchand, Carol Martin, Ida Miller, Mary Venn, Cinde Weatherby, and Claudia Yanez.

Tell Congress That Equality Belongs in the Constitution
More than 100 years after some women gained the right to vote, people in the United States are still not constitutionally guaranteed equality on the basis of sex. The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) will update the US Constitution to protect the equality of rights under the law regardless of sex. The ERA has met all ratification requirements, and now we are urging Congress to act to ensure that the ERA is published.
In honor of Women's History Month, click here to urge Congress to act now to assert that the ERA is part of the Constitution!
