League of Women Voters sets virtual fall kickoff event on Sept. 26

The League of Women Voters Austin Area will host a virtual fall kick-off event on Sept. 26.
The topic will be “Democracy in the Spotlight: Voter Rights & Election Laws." The program will be given from 2 to 4 p.m., and volunteer deputy registrar training for those interested will be given from 4 to 5 p.m.
A panel will be moderated by Cinde Weatherby, the group's voting rights/election law issue chair. Quorum Report publisher Harvey Kronberg will speak on historical perspectives, state Rep. John Bucy, D-Austin, will speak on legislator perspective, Harris County election administrator Isabel Longoria will speak on election official perspective and Thomas Buser-Clancey of the American Civil Liberties Union will speak on the legal perspective.
