Everything you need to know ahead of the May 24 runoff election
Republican and Democratic voters will choose their party’s nominee for the November general election in the races left undecided after the March primary election.
Candidates needed at least 50% of the vote to advance to the general election. If no candidate won a majority in the primary, the two candidates with the most votes headed to a runoff.

Which primary runoff can I vote in?
If you voted in the March 1 primary election, you can only vote in the runoff election for the same political party. For example, if you voted in the Democratic primary, you’re only able to vote in the Democratic runoff races. If you didn’t vote in March, you can vote in either party’s runoffs.
How do I check if I’m registered to vote?
Check your registration status with the El Paso County Elections Department or the Texas Secretary of State’s Office. The deadline to register to vote in the May 24 primary runoff election has passed.

When and where can I vote in person?
Early voting runs from May 16 through May 20. Hours and locations are here. Election Day is May 24 and polling places will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. El Paso has countywide voting, meaning that you can cast your ballot at any polling location.
What do I need to vote in person?
You’ll need one of seven acceptable forms of photo ID, which include a Texas driver’s license, U.S. passport book or card, or Texas personal ID card.
How do I vote by mail?
You must apply for a mail-in ballot by May 13. Mail-in voting is limited to those who are sick or disabled; age 65 or older on Election Day; are expected to give birth three weeks before or after Election Day; in jail; or out of the county during the voting period. To avoid ID problems on your application or completed mail-in ballot, include both your driver’s license number and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
