Minnie Fisher Cunningham SocietyThe Minnie Fisher Cunningham Legacy Society was created in 2004 by The League of Women Voters of Texas to strengthen the financial future of the League by encouraging planned gifts and multi-year pledges so the League can continue and thrive, focusing on its mission: empowering voters; defending democracy.Known as “Minnie Fish,” she was the leader of the Texas Women’s Suffrage Association and the first executive secretary of the LWVUS. She worked diligently with the Texas State Legislature and the United States Congress for an amendment to both the state and United States constitutions. Due to Minnie’s dedication and insistence, Texas became the first southern state to ratify the amendment in 1919. Learn more.
