Start A League

No League in your community? Start one!

Start immediately empowering voters and defending democracy by using the "League at large" process, which skips the legal and accounting hurdles of starting a local League.

Here are the two quick things you need to do to get started!

Step 1: Join the League! By joining LWVTX, you will immediately get all the benefits of League membership and will be on your way to creating a new League in your community.

Step 2: Fill out the Start a League Interest Form and email LWVTX so we can put you in touch with a Start a League Guide who will help you with the process and answer questions that may arise along the way.

You may want to do some easy homework to get ready for work with your Start a League guide by:

Reading about the league's fascinating history and taking a look at its values and guiding principles.
Reviewing the League's nonpartisan policy.
Checking out the list of other Leagues in Texas and what Local Leagues typically do
Following LWVUS, LWVTX, and a local Texas League on social media.

Later on in the process, your Start a League Guide will work with you to complete a short stack of paperwork, recruit three additional members to form your founding leadership team, and get started with the exciting work of empowering voters and defending democracy in your community!
